W03: ICCC 2019 Workshop on Advanced Technologies in Wireless Power Transfer and Communication Networks

Scope and Topics

Energy supply to mobile devices has always been a crucial issue faced by the development of wireless communication technologies. Recently, wireless power transfer (WPT) enables transfer of electrical energy from a power source to an electrical load without interconnecting wires. Three major techniques, including inductive coupling, magnetic resonance and radio frequency charging, have gain increasingly popularity in many applications, such as electric vehicle (EV) charging, home appliances, medical implants, consumer electronics, and space robots. With WPT technologies, wireless devices are able to harvest energy from dedicated wireless transmitters to support their operation and information transmission. Thus, It is also a new promising solution to extend the lifetime of energy-constrained wireless networks and has been regarded as a key enabling technology for truly perpetual communications (e.g., RFID, body area networks, wireless sensor networks, Machine-to-Machine communications, the Internet of things).

This workshop is expected to bring together academic and industrial researchers in an effort to discuss the major technical challenges and contribute recent state-of-art technologies related to wireless power transfer and communication networks (WPTCNs). Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  • Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer
  • Propagation, equivalent circuit modeling and optimization
  • Magnetic MIMO and energy beamforming
  • The associated network protocol design in WPTCNs
  • Cooperative techniques and resource allocation in WPTCNs
  • Spectrum sensing, sharing, interference exploitation and management in WPTCNs
  • Physical layer security of WPTCNs
  • Waveform design in WPTCNs
  • WPT systems for special applications
  • Radiation analysis, shielding, minimizing leakage, and safety design
  • mmWave and related technologies for WPTCNs
  • Network economics and energy trading of WPTCNs
  • Hardwar designs (SiC/GaN amplifier, rectifiers, antennas, etc.)
  • Prototypes and testbeds of WPTCNs
  • Wireless and optical convergence network for power and information transfer
  • Standardizations of WPTCNs.
