W10: ICCC 2019 Workshop On Edge Computing and Communications for 5G and Beyond

Scope and Topics

Mobile data traffic has been experiencing unprecedented growth due to the proliferation of smart devices and emerging social network services. Emerging 5th generation (5G) and beyond wireless communication networks are envisioned to provide mobile services with massive connectivity, ultrahigh data-rate, ultralow latency, much improved security, very low energy consumption, and high quality of experience. Due to the mismatch between the limited spectrum-computation resource and the unprecedented data volume, many advanced computing and communication technologies are necessitated to meet these diverse requirements in 5G and beyond wireless communication networks. To this end, many research groups around the world have spent research efforts on mobile edge computing technique driven by a tremendous number of ubiquitous smart devices, and evolving communication technologies, such as multiple access techniques, millimeter-wave communication techniques, and full-duplex communication techniques, etc.. Additionally, to efficiently exploit communication, computation and caching resources in 5G and beyond wireless networks, some emerging optimization techniques of resource management, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning have attracted lots of research interests.

This workshop aims to bring together academic and industrial researcher in an effort to identify and discuss challenging ideas, novel research contributions, and state-of-the-art results related to edge computing and communication technologies for 5G and beyond. Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  • Computation offloading and resource allocation in edge computing system
  • Collaborative computing and resource sharing techniques for edge computing
  • Ultra-low delay communication techniques for edge computing
  • Energy-efficient designs for mobile edge computing
  • Energy-harvesting and wireless power transfer techniques for edge computing
  • Cross layer optimization and control in edge computing system
  • Cloud, edge, and mobile caching techniques for edge computing
  • Secure computing and communication privacy issues in edge computing
  • Mobility, routing and admission control for mobile edge computing
  • Machine learning and data analytics for intelligent edge computing
  • Standard, protocol, and network architecture designs for edge computing
Submission Guideline

The submitted papers should be original, not published or currently under review for publications in any other journal or conference. All submission must be formatted in standard IEEE camera-ready format and must be written in English and be at most six (6) printed papers in length, including figures.
