W18: ICCC 2019 Workshop on Space Optical Communication System and Network

Scope and Topics of the Workshop

With the continuous development of science technology, people have higher requirements for the performance of communication systems. Because of its advantages of high speed, small size, low power consumption, good security performance, and the absence of bandwidth restrictions, the space optical communication system and network as an advanced means of communication have developed rapidly. Many countries and research institutes have been investing a lot of human, financial and material resources to research in depth. It is not only a very important research content in the field of civil business communication, emergency communication, relay communication, etc. but also has a very important strategic application in space exploration, scientific research, especially in the field of national defense applications.

Space optical communication and network technology is a complex and integrated communication system. It contains many key technologies, for example, the transmission and reception technology of optical signal in long distance, optical transmission characteristics in the atmospheric channel, optical antenna design technology with high gain, the PAT (pointing,acquisition and tracking) technology for moving terminals with vibration situation and large angle range, etc. In recent years, several new trends have emerged in the development of space optical communication system and network. The communication system changes from intensity modulation/direct detection (IM/DD) to coherent communication system, optical quantum communication is developing rapidly, the demand for composite communication systems is continued growth, space-based communication network integration gradually form based on relay satellite of optical communication system,  deep space optical communication technology and underwater optical communication technology are developing rapidly in special application areas, etc. Topics of interest in this workshop include but not limited to the following:

  • General theory of wireless optical communications and networks;
  • Influence of atmospheric channel characteristics in space laser communication system and network;
  • Modulation technology of high speed signal;
  • Coherent optical laser communication;
  • Orbital angular momentum optical communications;
  • Optical phase-locked loop technology;
  • Optical signal fine tracking;
  • Integration technology of communication and ranging
  • New method of optical navigation
  • Optical signal processing
  • Adaptive optics

 

Submission Guideline

The submitted papers should be original, not published or current under review for publications in any other journal or conference. All submission must be formatted in standard IEEE camera-ready format and must be written in English and be at most six (6) printed papers in length, including figures.
